Results & Priorities

Accountable Leadership

Listening to neighbors and turning local concerns into practical action at the Advisory Neighborhood Commission table.

Fountain

Malcolm X (Meridian Hill) Park

For over 10 years, the historic fountains and cascading water features at Meridian Hill/Malcolm X Park sat dry. I kept advocating for their restoration because this park is a gathering place at the heart of our community.

Today, water has been restored to most of the park’s fountains and cascading features. I’ll keep pushing until the remaining work is complete.
Belmont Street Speed Hump

Safer Streets

I worked with Belmont Street residents and DDOT to advocate for this speed hump and address concerns about speeding.

I’ve also advocated for streets across 1B05 to be repaved and restriped, with clearer markings for pedestrians, bicyclists, and drivers. These improvements help make our streets safer for everyone.
Alan Speaking

Responsive & Accessible

Throughout my time in office, I have worked directly with residents and District agencies on issues involving public safety, transportation, quality of life, neighborhood businesses, and constituent concerns.

Government agencies do not always move quickly. My approach has been simple: keep following up, keep pushing, and keep working until we get an answer.

Rodent Control & Neighborhood Cleanliness

Rodent problems continue to be a concern in our neighborhood. I have worked with DC Health’s Rodent and Vector Control Division to address rodent activity and problem areas and will continue working with the agency to target these pests.

This includes advocating for treatment and follow-up inspections where problems persist, while also addressing the conditions that attract rodents in the first place. Keeping our streets, alleys, and public spaces clean and reducing rodent activity will remain an ongoing priority.
